Abstract: Newly evolving methodological approaches in Learning Sciences that use critical and ecological lenses to design provide ways to identify and address emergent tensions regarding social change through educational research. Such tensions get uniquely manifested in different socioecological contexts. We analyse them in the three studies that we conducted in India. Based on intersubjective insights into the data, we identify ‘how do’ different tensions manifest in four categories (educators/researchers, practices, learners, and learning environments) and ‘how to’ engage in various ways to address these. Our work attempts to contribute to the discussion around educational approaches to social change making with the help of cases from contexts other than where the approaches were developed.
