Abstract: Building on pedagogies of liberation through youth participatory action research (YPAR), this work explicates the role of adult facilitators as they navigate tensions and make sense of their roles and responsibilities within an emerging youth council. The cases highlight the complexity of intergenerational relationships within youth-centered research, specifically in the context of organizing. This work demonstrates a need for further work that examines the interactional micro-moments between youth and adults that embody a praxis of liberatory education.
