When assessing the effectiveness of science programs, it is important to accurately gauge subjects' attitudes toward science. We designed an assessment that would elicit more authentic "gut reactions" to pictures of a variety of science and non-science objects and activities as opposed to text-based questions asking students to make detached reflections on their own attitudes toward science. This assessment was validated by administering it to middle school students along with a previously validated survey.en_US
