Abstract: We (1) present an argument that anchored, case-based instruction, delivered interactively over the WWW has benefits for the conceptual development of preservice teachers, and (2) argue that a commonly-used measure can be modified to provide sophisticated insights into conceptual change. These goals are met by providing evidence from a two-group, large-scale experimental study of preservice teachers using multimedia, anchored cases in their preservice literacy methods courses.
